Who we are

Carpentry starts with three layers of spruce plywood glued and screwed to steel studs. Sound baffles are wrapped in heavy burlap and mounted on clips to keep noise from the hallway out of the game. Door frames use heavy spring latches instead of magnetic locks so the mechanical release triggers reliably every time. Props are bolted down through the flooring using threaded inserts rather than wood screws that strip out under heavy use. Every wire runs through rigid conduit behind the drywall to stop curious hands from tugging on low voltage lines. Teams test each puzzle mechanism through five thousand cycles before the drywall goes up and the paint dries.

Scores go up on the wall based on total time remaining and the number of hints requested during the session. Hints cost two minutes each deducted directly from the clock by the game master watching through the window. A team finishing Blackout with twelve minutes left and two hints gets a final score that beats a team finishing in ten minutes with zero hints. The seasonal ladder resets every autumn when new scenarios rotate onto the floor. Regular groups check the board in the lobby before booking their next slot to see where they rank against other local players.

Stairs lead down from the main lobby to the corridor where the games are located, and there is no elevator on site. Hallways measure ninety centimetres wide, which can make things tight for larger groups moving together between props. People sensitive to complete darkness or loud sudden noises might find specific scenarios uncomfortable because the door locks automatically at the start whistle. Players who prefer casual entertainment without puzzles or time limits will likely find the venue does not match what they want for an evening out.

Atmosphere

Each set piece starts with a sheet of steel or a length of reclaimed pine. Carpenters screw the panels to concrete anchors using half-inch bolts. Technicians solder every wire behind drywall before the paint goes on. Testing takes weeks. Groups walk through the layout while staff time the doors and check the magnetic locks. If a sensor fails or a prop sticks, the crew tears out the bracket and welds a new one in place. Scores go up on the board near the front desk as teams finish their runs. A digital timer records the exact duration down to the second. Points accumulate after each completed objective. The ladder resets on the first day of every season. Teams move up or down the rankings based on total time and hints used during the session. Regulars check the monitor daily to see where their group sits against other squads in Calgary. The hallways measure three feet across with low ceilings finished in matte black drywall. Sound travels through uninsulated timber floors when boots hit the boards. Air vents push a steady draft of cool air from rooftop units. Players sit on heavy oak benches bolted to concrete slabs while staff read the rules. Strobe lights flash during certain sequences. This venue is not right for visitors who struggle with confined spaces, loud sudden noises, or complete darkness. Pine boards cover the interior walls with a coat of grey polyurethane finish. Steel brackets hold the overhead light fixtures in place above the main corridor. Electrical conduit runs along the ceiling joists in plain view. Dust settles on the concrete floor near the emergency exit doors. The air smells like fresh timber and metal primer. Heavy iron hinges creak when players push open the heavy security gates to enter a game. The back hallway features exposed brick walls and copper water pipes. Fluorescent tube lights hum softly above the reception desk. Visitors sit on vinyl stools while waiting for their time slot to begin. Soundproofing panels made of dense foam line the walls of the briefing room. A single floor fan pushes air across the concrete foundation. The physical space feels industrial and dense with heavy materials at every turn.

What we offer

Room construction starts with timber framing bolted directly to concrete subfloors. Drywall layers are doubled on shared partitions to stop sound bleed between adjacent spaces. Every pneumatic cylinder and magnetic lock undergoes three thousand cycles on a test bench before installation. Electrical runs use armoured conduit routed through drop ceilings for quick maintenance access. Operators calibrate sensors weekly using standard weight calibration kits to maintain consistent trigger thresholds.

Scores rely on total remaining seconds plus puzzle completion percentage recorded by the central server. The public ladder updates after every finished booking based on raw team efficiency. Penalties for hint requests deduct three minutes from the final clock time automatically. Groups review their breakdown on lobby monitors once doors open. Rankings reset seasonally to keep competition open for returning local teams.

Common questions

Can we add another player to our booking after we pay?
Group sizes are fixed to match specific room limits. You can check online to see if an adjacent time slot has open capacity. Staff will try to adjust your roster if the total remains within fire code rules for that specific space.
What happens if our group arrives late for a scheduled session?
Games start promptly at the time printed on your ticket. Late arrivals cut directly into your playing time because the next group is booked right after. Doors lock five minutes past the scheduled hour and missed slots are non-refundable.
Do we need to bring anything special to play the games?
Leave your bags, phones, and cameras in the lockers provided in the lobby. Comfortable shoes work best since you will be standing and walking on concrete floors. Reading glasses are recommended if you struggle with small text in dim lighting.
How do private bookings work for company events or large groups?
You can book multiple rooms to run games at the same time. Check the online schedule to see which time blocks have enough open slots for your headcount. Contact the front desk directly if you need to coordinate arrival times for multiple teams.
Are walk-in bookings accepted if we show up at the venue?
Sessions are booked in advance through the website to ensure staff are ready. Walk-ins are only accommodated if an empty time slot is currently available on the board. Most weekend slots fill up days ahead of time.
Can we take photos or record video inside the rooms?
Cameras and recording devices are strictly prohibited inside all game areas. This rule protects puzzle secrets and keeps the experience fresh for future visitors. Staff will gladly take a photo of your group in the lobby after your game finishes.
What is the cancellation policy if our plans change?
Refunds are issued if you cancel at least two days before your scheduled start time. Rescheduling is available online up to twenty-four hours before your session begins. Missed appointments without notice forfeit the full booking fee.
